He admitted that the\nsalaries of teachers and civil servants remain poor because state funds\nare continuously stolen by irresponsible parties.<\/p>\n<p>This was conveyed by Prabowo during the closing ceremony of the\nNational Conference (Munas) of Alim Ulama and the Grand Conference\n(Konbes) of Nahdlatul Ulama (NU) at the Syaichona Mohammad Cholil\nIslamic Institute in Bangkalan Regency, East Java, on Tuesday\n(23\/6\/2026).<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI want to convey in this forum because I want you, the NU community,\nas leaders, as scholars, as teachers, as guides of the people, to\nunderstand why teacher salaries cannot be good, why civil servant\nsalaries cannot be good, why the budget is always insufficient. It is\nbecause the money is not there, it is being taken continuously,\u201d Prabowo\nsaid.<\/p>\n<p>Prabowo said he has engaged experts to calculate the total state\nlosses resulting from the leakage of state wealth. He stated that the\ncountry has lost up to Rp 2,500 trillion.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe have calculated the leakage, the experts now calculate it to be\napproximately USD 150 billion per year, Rp 2,500 trillion per year. And\nI am currently fixing this,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>On the same occasion, Prabowo admitted he was saddened to learn that\nthe state\u2019s wealth was not being enjoyed for the benefit of the nation.\nHe acknowledged this as a collective oversight.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cLadies and gentlemen, I have only been leading the government for\nabout 18 months. I am shocked, surprised, and saddened to see how much\nof our wealth has been lost all this time.
