        "content": "<p>JAKARTA \u2014 President Prabowo Subianto, through the Indonesian Ministry\nof Defence, has accepted a proposal from US Secretary of Defense Pete\nHegseth to designate Bandara Kertajati in Majalengka Regency as a\nMaintenance, Repair and Overhaul (MRO) hub for C-130 Hercules heavy\ntransport aircraft across Asia.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHe offered, and this does not exist in any ASEAN country. He\noffered, \u2018What if I centralise C-130 maintenance across Asia in\nIndonesia at our expense?\u2019 I reported to the President, \u2018let us have\nKertajati\u2019. Well, we are working on that,\u201d said Sjafrie Sjamsoeddin.<\/p>\n<p>Defence Minister (Menhan) Sjafrie Sjamsoeddin revealed this news\nduring a Working Meeting (Raker) between Commission I of the DPR and the\nMinistry of Defence (Kemhan) and the Indonesian National Armed Forces\n(TNI) on Tuesday, 19 May 2026.<\/p>\n<p>On a separate occasion, Head of the Defence Information Bureau at\nKemhan, Brigadier General Rico Ricardo Sirait, confirmed the US offer.\n\u201cWith regard to the statement by the Minister of Defence, there is\ncurrently a plan to prepare the Bandara Kertajati area as one of the MRO\ncentres for C-130\/Hercules aircraft in the Asia region,\u201d Rico said when\ncontacted, on Wednesday, 20 May 2026. The senior TNI-AD officer\nexplained that the development of Bandara Kertajati as a C-130 Hercules\nMRO hub across Asia will be conducted in stages. \u201cIt is aimed at\nsupporting Indonesia as a Hercules maintenance hub in the region,\u201d he\nsaid. According to Rico, this aligns with efforts to strengthen defence\nindustry self-reliance and national strategic air logistics support.<\/p>",
