PPD back in operation after strike<\/p>\n
JAKARTA: Employees of state-owned PPD city bus company went
\nback to work on Thursday after the management met their demand
\nnot to scrap their daily meal allowance.<\/p>\n
On Wednesday, the drivers went on strike to protest the
\nmanagement's decision to stop the meal allowance while at the
\nsame time increasing their daily target.<\/p>\n
Each crew gets Rp 20,000 in meal allowance per day for the
\ndriver and either one or two conductors.<\/p>\n
\"If the management scrap our meal allowance, it will be
\ntougher on us as it has set a higher daily target,\" a driver,
\nJohn Waldemar, told The Jakarta Post while manning his P11 bus
\nplying the route between Kampung Rambutan bus terminal, East
\nJakarta, and Kota, West Jakarta.<\/p>\n
John said the management had increased the daily target by Rp
\n12,000 per shift on top of the existing Rp 240,000 per shift.<\/p>\n
\"But we must pay for our own fuel, effectively making our
