        "content": "<p>Power outage in Sumatra, PLN apologises<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Antara<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>VIVA \u2013 PT PLN (Persero) apologises for the total blackout in Central\nand Northern Sumatra caused by a system disturbance, resulting in\ndarkness since 18:45 Western Indonesian Time on Friday, 22 May 2026. The\nCommunications Manager for the Regional Distribution Unit of Riau and\nthe Riau Islands, I Komang Gede Sastrawan, said an investigation is\nunderway into the system disturbance affecting Riau and surrounding\nareas since 18:44 WIB.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe apologise for the inconvenience. Preliminary information at 18:44\nWIB indicates the Northern Sumatra \u2013 Central Sumatra system is separated\nand the Northern Sumatra area is in total blackout. Load shedding is\nstill being recorded,\u201d he said in a Pekanbaru statement on Friday\nnight.<\/p>\n<p>He added that PLN\u2019s technical teams have been deployed to the field\nto carry out a thorough check of the system and electrical network, as\nwell as trace the cause of the disturbance.<\/p>\n<p>PLN urged the public to remain calm and not panic. Information on the\nhandling of the disruption will be provided periodically via the PLN\nMobile app and the PLN 123 Contact Centre service.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe apologise, ladies and gentlemen.
