Poulterer robbed, wife raped in Bekasi<\/p>\n
JAKARTA (JP): Police are still trying to determine the
\nidentities of the men who allegedly robbed a Bekasi poultry
\nbreeding farm manager and then raped his wife in front of their
\ndaughter on Tuesday.<\/p>\n
City Police Spokesman Lt. Col. Iman Haryatna told reporters
\nyesterday that two men with possible knowledge of the robbery and
\nbrutal rape in the Bantar Gebang subdistrict are still being
\nquestioned.<\/p>\n
But, Iman told The Jakarta Post, \"we have not collected any
\nevidence of their roles in the crime and no one has been
\ndetained.\"<\/p>\n
Iman refused to give the identities of the two men being
\nquestioned, but said that such crimes are generally committed by
\nneighbors of the victims.<\/p>\n
\"Police will search the Bantar Gebang neighborhood and will
\nquestion those we suspect,\" he said.<\/p>\n
More than five men broke into the house of Yanto Subianto, the
\nfarm manager, after overwhelming the security guard. The robbers
\nthreatened to kill Yanto if he resisted or shouted for help. He
\nwas then tied up and locked inside a bathroom.<\/p>\n
The men trashed Yanto's private office before stealing 280
\ngrams worth of jewelry and Rp 1 million cash. As the others were
\nabout to leave, one of the robbers grabbed Yanto's wife,
\nidentified only as Ya, and began raping her in front of her six-
\nyear-old daughter.<\/p>\n
None of Yanto's employees, who were sleeping in a building in
\nfront of his house, heard any commotion until Yanto and his wife
\nshouted for help after the men had run away.<\/p>\n
Yanto told the police he did not think he had enemies.
\nHowever, a poultry breeder, Teguh, said that PT Alvita Pratama,
\nwhich is developing the Kota Legenda housing complex, had asked
\nYanto to sell his property, Pos Kota reported yesterday.<\/p>\n
The daily also reported that the robbers had broken into the
\nhouse of a neighbor named Siti.<\/p>\n
Siti said that at about 2:00 a.m. the men broke into her house
\nand threatened to kill her and her four children. The robbers
\nleft after Siti gave them Rp 15,000. \"One of the robbers almost
\nraped my 19-year-old daughter,\" Siti said, adding that the man
\ngave up after her daughter resisted.<\/p>\n
An earlier gang rape case jolted Bekasi last July, when eleven
\nmen robbed a local resident, Acan, of money and valuable goods
\nbefore raping his wife and two daughters in his presence.
