        "content": "<p>Activities of residents in Manado City, North Sulawesi, have\nreportedly returned to normal following a magnitude 7.3 earthquake that\nshook the region on Thursday morning (2\/4). Although it initially caused\nconcern, the pulse of the economy and public mobility is beginning to\nrecover.<\/p>\n<p>Spokesperson for Basarnas Manado, Nuriadin Gumeleng, confirmed that\nthe situation on the ground is now conducive. However, his team\ncontinues to conduct in-depth data collection to ensure all damage\nimpacts and affected victims are properly accommodated.<\/p>\n<p>Based on preliminary data gathered by Basarnas, the earthquake\nclaimed lives and caused injuries. \u201cFor victims, two people have been\nrecorded so far. One person died and the other sustained injuries,\u201d\nNuriadin stated.<\/p>\n<p>In addition to fatalities, infrastructure damage is also being\nidentified. One public building significantly affected is the Manado\nKONI Sports Building.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe evacuation of victims from this sports building has been\ncompleted. For other damage impacts, they are still in the data\ncollection stage by the field team,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n<p>Nuriadin explained that overall, Manado residents have returned to\ntheir normal activities. Crowded centres and protocol roads no longer\nshow panic as they did during the morning tremors.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cResidents\u2019 activities are normal,\u201d he emphasised briefly.<\/p>\n<p>Previously, the Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysics Agency\n(BMKG) reported a major earthquake shaking the southeastern area of\nBitung City, North Sulawesi, at 06:48 WITA.<\/p>\n<p>Authorities advise the public to remain alert to the potential for\naftershocks and to always monitor official information from BMKG or BNPB\nchannels to avoid disinformation.<\/p>",
