The government is implementing a series of agricultural land recovery\nand sustainable food security strengthening programmes to support food\nself-sufficiency in areas affected by hydrometeorological disasters in\nAceh, North Sumatra, and West Sumatra. This move is part of a strategy\nfor community economic recovery during the permanent rehabilitation and\nreconstruction phase. The primary focus is on ecologically viable food\nproduction, developing agricultural areas according to land\ncharacteristics, and encouraging food commodity diversification through\nproduction systems that are adaptive to climate change.<\/p>\n
The Minister of Agriculture, Andi Amran Sulaiman, ensured that the\ncentral government is paying serious attention to the recovery of\nagricultural land, which serves as the primary livelihood for the\ncommunity. He emphasised the importance of swift action from all\nstakeholders so that damaged land can quickly become productive again.\n\u201cPresident Prabowo Subianto has instructed all levels, from ministers\nand governors to regents and mayors, to ensure that the handling of\ndisaster-affected agricultural land in the three provinces is\nmaximised,\u201d Amran stated in a briefing on Monday (8\/6\/2026).<\/p>\n
He made these remarks during a visit to inspect land rehabilitation\nin Lubuk Alung, Padang Pariaman, West Sumatra, recently. Amran revealed\nthat the government has allocated aid totalling more than Rp1 trillion\nto accelerate recovery in the three affected regions. This budget covers\nvarious needs, ranging from the repair of agricultural infrastructure to\nsupport for farmers\u2019 production facilities.<\/p>\n
As a long-term measure, this programme has been integrated into the\nMaster Plan (Renduk) for Post-Disaster Rehabilitation and Reconstruction\nin Sumatra. The scheme is designed to focus on adding value to\nagricultural products, food diversification, sustainable agriculture,\nstrengthening cooperatives, and ensuring inclusive market access.\nMeanwhile, the Chairman of the Task Force for the Acceleration of\nPost-Disaster Rehabilitation and Reconstruction (Satgas PRR) in Sumatra,\nMuhammad Tito Karnavian, emphasised that the Master Plan will serve as\nthe primary reference for the government in overseeing all permanent\nphysical and non-physical recovery processes over the next three years\n(2026-2028).<\/p>\n
\u201cWe are now in the process of moving towards permanent recovery or\nrehab-recon. The key is the Master Plan, which is compiled from the\naffected regencies, cities, provinces, and ministries\/agencies. As an initial implementation stage, the PRR Task Force continues to\naccelerate the distribution of agricultural aid in the three affected\nareas. Data from the PRR Task Force as of the end of May 2026 shows that\nthe realisation of agricultural aid has reached Rp877.126 billion for\nprogrammes involving paddy field rehabilitation, land optimisation, and\nthe construction of irrigation networks.
