Poso remains calm after bomb blast<\/p>\n
POSO, Central Sulawesi: The situation remained calm on Friday
\nin the Central Sulawesi town of Poso following a bomb blast in a
\nfield two days ahead of Christmas.<\/p>\n
The police are continuing their investigation of the case.<\/p>\n
To prevent a similar incident, security officers said that
\nthey would intensify their efforts to guard churches, hospitals
\nand a number of vital installations ahead of the New Year.<\/p>\n
\"We hope that people will be more proactive in helping
\nsecurity officers maintain the current level of security,\"
\nCentral Sulawesi Police chief Brig. Gen. Taufiq Ridha told
\nreporters after attending Friday prayers.<\/p>\n
\"As of today, we (the police) have yet to find the
\nperpetrators as some local people are not saying anything even
\nthough we believe that the bomb went off in their field,\" he
\nadded.<\/p>\n
The bomb, a low explosive device, exploded on Tuesday as the
\nnation readied for Christmas. No fatalities were reported in the
\nblast, which took place in a field in front of the offices of the
\nhead of Lembomawo subdistrict in Poso. A window in the building
\nwas blown out.<\/p>\n
\"We are happy to say that Poso residents were unaffected by
\nthe incident and were able to continue going about their normal
\nactivities,\" Taufiq said. -- JP<\/p>",
