        "content": "<p>Pos Indonesia initiates new marketing service<\/p>\n<p>JAKARTA (JP): PT Pos Indonesia, a state-owned firm under the<br>\nMinistry of Tourism, Post and Telecommunications, launched<br>\nyesterday a new mobile marketing service, called Posarling, which<br>\nbrings stamp sales and money transferal services to the<br>\ncustomer's door.<\/p>\n<p>The company's president, Cahyana Ahmadjayadi, said that<br>\npostmen on motorcycles will be equipped with radio paging<br>\nequipment to enable them to serve customers at their homes.<\/p>\n<p>\"This program is designed to improve the service coverage of<br>\nmailmen, each of whom generally deliver from 200 to 300 letters<br>\nwithin three subdistricts per day,\" he said. The new marketing<br>\nstrategy is expected to assist busy people living in big cities.<\/p>\n<p>He said that his company conducted a series of trial<br>\noperations for the new service in Jakarta and the West Java towns<br>\nof Tangerang and Bandung in June and July.<\/p>\n<p>\"The service, which is now still limited to cover only<br>\nJakarta, Bandung and Tangerang, will be expanded early next year<br>\nto Semarang in Central Java, Yogyakarta, and Surabaya in East<br>\nJava.\"<\/p>\n<p>When asked about the financial arrangements for the service,<br>\nCahyana said that his company spent about Rp 60,000 (US$25) to<br>\nmodify and equip each motorcycle with a special box, while<br>\nrevenues from the service are estimated to reach about Rp 3<br>\nmillion ($1,320) per postman per day.<\/p>\n<p>Pos Indonesia also signed a cooperation agreement here<br>\nyesterday with the state-owned international telecommunications<br>\noperator PT Indosat.<\/p>\n<p>Yesterday's agreement, which was signed by Cahyana and<br>\nIndosat's president, Tjahjono Soerjodibroto, will make it<br>\npossible for the two parties to cooperate in businesses,<br>\nincluding in the establishment of joint ventures.<\/p>\n<p>\"At the first stage, we agree to cooperate in nine activities.<br>\nFor example, Pos Indonesia will handle Indosat's domestic and<br>\ninternational dispatching documents and the two firms will launch<br>\njoin promotions,\" Cahyana said.
