        "content": "<p>Popular participation in Tommy's manhunt<\/p>\n<p>JAKARTA (JP): The manhunt for fugitive Hutomo 'Tommy' Mandala<br>\nPutra, convicted in a land scam, has led many parties to take<br>\npart, either seriously or jokingly, in the search.<\/p>\n<p>In a front-page advertisement, Rakyat Merdeka daily offered a<br>\nreward worth Rp 100 million (US$11,000) to anyone who could<br>\nprovide evidence about a possible collusion between Tommy and law<br>\nenforcers to keep the fugitive out of jail.<\/p>\n<p>The contest will be open until Dec. 24.<\/p>\n<p>On Saturday, around 50 people from Humanika (Community<br>\nAssociation for Humanity and Justice) carried a huge poster<br>\nduring their protest at Hotel Indonesia roundabout that read: \"Rp<br>\n5 million reward for National Police Chief and Attorney General<br>\nto arrest Tommy Soeharto.\"<\/p>\n<p>Posters bearing the headshot of the youngest son of former<br>\npresident Soeharto with the word \"Wanted\" at the top could be<br>\nfound at many lamp and telephone posts, building walls and<br>\nseveral other places on Jl. Salemba Raya, Central Jakarta, since<br>\nearly last week.<\/p>\n<p>The posters, said to be placed by university students, did not<br>\noffer any reward or even mention any telephone number to be<br>\ncontacted.<\/p>\n<p>Late last week, City Police Chief Insp. Gen. Mulyono Sulaiman<br>\nsaid in a TV interview that the public role in the arrest of<br>\nTommy was to be expected.<\/p>\n<p>\"It's not good if we have to provide a reward for people who<br>\nhelp us in the manhunt.<\/p>\n<p>What we really hope is that the people, who manage to find<br>\nTommy, would immediately hand over the fugitive to the nearby<br>\npolice station without doing anything illegal, such as beating<br>\nhim,\" he said.
