Popular high school opens new facilities<\/p>\n
JAKARTA (JP): Canisius College, a senior and junior high
\nschool on Jl. Menteng Raya in Central Jakarta, today opened a new
\nfour-story building.<\/p>\n
Harijanto S.J., the secretary of Yayasan Budi Siswa, the owner
\nof the college, told The Jakarta Post yesterday that the new
\nfacility comprises of a number of laboratories for language,
\nbiological, chemical and computer practices, as well as eight
\nclassrooms, a health unit and a clubroom for the school's alumni.<\/p>\n
\"The new facility is expected to help support the introduction
\nof the new educational curriculum,\" he said, adding that the
\nbuilding will be officially inaugurated by the city's archbishop
\nLeo Soekoto, S.J. on Friday.<\/p>\n
Canisius College, one of the city's favorite schools, was
\nfounded in 1927.<\/p>\n
A new chairman of the alumni association will be elected
\ntoday, and other activities called \"Back to College\" will also be
\nheld.<\/p>\n
A number of high ranking officials of the current cabinet
\ngraduated from the school, including Minister of Public Housing
\nAkbar Tandjung, Minister of Trade Satrio Budiardjo Joedono,
\nMinister of Environment Sarwono Kusumaatmadja and Minister of
\nNational Development Planning\/Chairman of the National
\nDevelopment Planning Board Ginandjar Kartasasmita. They are
