Poor bank service draws complaints<\/p>\n
TANGERANG (JP): Several customers of Lumbung Mekar Sentosa
\nsecondary bank on Jl. Daan Mogot in Batuceper district complained
\nyesterday of difficulties in withdrawing their savings.<\/p>\n
One of the customers, who asked for anonymity, said he could
\nnot withdraw Rp 25 million owned by 500 elementary school
\nstudents from his account.<\/p>\n
He said the money was badly needed to pay for examination fees
\nthis month and that bank employees had told him several times to
\ncome back the next day.<\/p>\n
Several other customers, mostly elementary school teachers,
\nalso faced the same experience.<\/p>\n
Many of the customers thought the bank was on the brink of
\nbankruptcy due to the monetary crisis.<\/p>\n
Wilson Pangaribuan, a director of the bank, denied such
\nallegations, saying his bank was financially sound and that
\ncustomers could withdraw their money whenever they wanted.<\/p>\n
"We never postpone any withdrawal requests. We will serve
\ncustomers as quickly as possible, anytime they want," he said.<\/p>\n
Wilson believed that the allegations were being made by people
\nwishing to hurt the bank. (41)<\/p>",
