Pontianak \u2014 A combined task force of prosecutors and police have\nsecured two of three detainees from the Pontianak District Prosecutor\u2019s\nOffice who fled following the stage II case file handover process,\nwhilst a third fugitive remains the subject of ongoing pursuit.<\/p>\n
Intensive search operations commenced on Wednesday, 11 March, with\nsupport from the Rapid Response Team of the West Kalimantan High\nProsecutor\u2019s Office, personnel from the Pontianak District Prosecutor\u2019s\nOffice, and police units, according to I Wayan Gedin Arianta, Head of\nthe Legal Information Section of the West Kalimantan High Prosecutor\u2019s\nOffice, speaking in Pontianak on Thursday.<\/p>\n
The escape occurred the previous day, Tuesday, 10 March, during the\nPontianak District Prosecutor\u2019s Office\u2019s stage II case file handover of\n11 detainees in rotation to public prosecutors. The constant movement of\ndetainees in and out of the facility left cell doors in an open\ncondition.<\/p>\n
At approximately 14:34 central Indonesian time, three individuals\nsuspected to be detainees were captured on surveillance cameras jumping\nfrom the second-floor window of the Pontianak District Prosecutor\u2019s\nOffice building before crossing through an area adjacent to the local\nTelkom Indonesia office, situated beside the prosecutor\u2019s complex.<\/p>\n
The incident came to light around 15:00 central Indonesian time when\non-duty officers reported the suspected escape whilst intelligence\npersonnel were engaged in a video conference. Immediate verification of\nthe detention area confirmed all three individuals were unaccounted\nfor.<\/p>\n
Initial investigation involved interviewing security personnel at the\nTelkom office, who reported witnessing several individuals jumping from\nthe second-floor window of the prosecutor\u2019s building. Officers\nsubsequently examined CCTV footage and confirmed the movements of all\nthree in that location at the same time.<\/p>\n
The prosecutor\u2019s office then coordinated with the provincial\nprosecutor\u2019s office and police for security measures and pursuit\noperations.<\/p>\n
\u201cTo date, two detainees have been secured by the prosecutor\u2019s office\nteam working with officers from Sintang Police Resort. One remaining\ndetainee is still being pursued by the combined apparatus,\u201d Arianta\nstated.<\/p>\n
I Wayan Gedin Arianta expressed appreciation for the swift response\nand cross-institutional coordination in handling the case.<\/p>\n
\u201cRapid coordination and solid cooperation between the prosecutor\u2019s\noffice and police proved the key to the re-apprehension of the fugitive\ndetainees,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
He added that success in securing two detainees represents the\nintegrated work of all law enforcement officials in the field.<\/p>\n
