Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Indonesian National Police (Polri) has
reaffirmed the ban on all its personnel conducting live streaming on
social media while on duty to maintain professionalism and the
institution’s image in the public sphere. “This reaffirmation is
intended to build collective awareness so that Polri members use social
media wisely while safeguarding and enhancing the institution’s image,
credibility, and reputation in a responsible, professional,
proportional, and procedural manner,” said Head of Polri’s Public
Relations Division, Inspector General Johnny Eddizon Isir, in a
statement received in Jakarta on Tuesday. He stated that the prohibition
policy refers to Telegram Letter Number STR/1517/VI/WAS.2/2024, which
serves as the basis for strengthening oversight of personnel activities
in the digital space, particularly during official duties. In addition,
all Polri members are required to uphold the rules outlined in Polri
Regulation Number 7 of 2022 and Government Regulation Number 2 of 2003
on Polri member discipline. According to him, both regulations emphasise
the importance of ethics, responsibility, and professionalism in every
action, including on social media. Regarding social media usage, Johnny
said it is still permitted but must be directed towards public relations
interests and under the coordination of Polri’s Public Relations
function. “Social media can be utilised positively to support Polri’s
performance and productivity, especially in the public relations
function. However, its use must be coordinated and not done arbitrarily
by members while on duty,” he said. Through this policy, it is hoped
that all personnel will be more disciplined and responsible in using
social media, thereby maintaining public trust in the institution.
",
