Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Indonesian National Police (Polri) has\nreaffirmed its commitment to guaranteeing the constitutional rights of\nworkers in expressing their opinions during the International Labour Day\nor May Day 2026 celebrations on Friday.<\/p>\n
Polri\u2019s Head of Public Relations Division, Inspector General Johnny\nEddizon Isir, stated that freedom of expression in public is a right of\ncitizens guaranteed by the constitution and must be respected.<\/p>\n
\u201cPolri guarantees the constitutional rights of workers to express\nopinions safely, orderly, and with dignity. We understand that\nexpressing aspirations is part of human rights that must be protected,\u201d\nhe said in a statement in Jakarta on Friday.<\/p>\n
In securing the May Day momentum, he said, police ranks prioritise a\nhumane approach and respect for human rights.<\/p>\n
He emphasised that the presence of police personnel in the field is\nnot to limit democratic space, but to ensure activities run conducive\nand participants feel safe.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe want fellow workers expressing aspirations to feel the presence\nof Polri as protectors, guardians, and public servants. Therefore, all\nour personnel are directed to prioritise persuasive, professional, and\nhumane attitudes,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
In addition, he continued, Polri continues to coordinate with related\nparties to regulate traffic flow, secure mass gathering points, and keep\npublic activities running during the May Day action.<\/p>\n
