Polri Chief General Listyo Sigit Prabowo urged all elements of the
workforce to unite in safeguarding the investment climate and domestic
economic stability, a priority given the ongoing global geopolitical
uncertainties. He voiced the appeal during a Ramadan goodwill gathering
and Iftar with the Confederation of All Indonesian Workers’ Union
(KSPSI) in West Java at PT NOK, Cikarang, on Friday 6 March 2026.

‘Obviously we all follow the developments in the global situation
that are currently taking place, which evidently have a very significant
impact,’ General Sigit said at the scene. In his briefing, he
highlighted the conflict among the United States, Israel and Iran that
has broad implications for the world economy. Notably after the death of
Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei. ‘Moreover, after the death
of Ayatollah Ali Khamenei along with Iran’s leaders, the red flag with a
crescent was raised, which signals that this war will not be brief and
will endure until their retaliation is balanced,’ he added.

He noted that the escalation of the conflict in the Middle East will
affect global crude oil prices. ‘As of today, prices have risen by 16
percent. From USD 66 per barrel, they are now around USD 77 per barrel.
This clearly has implications for both the global and domestic
situations,’ General Sigit said.

Therefore, General Sigit emphasised the importance of solidity among
workers, the government and all elements. Indonesia, he said, must be
able to manage its natural resources autonomously and maintain food and
energy resilience. ‘In this situation, we all, with the government, must
be solid,’ he hoped. ‘The choice in today’s global circumstances is that
Indonesia must be self-reliant. We must stand on our own two feet,’ he
added.

Separately, the former head of the Indonesian Criminal Investigation
Agency discussed the economic diplomacy pursued by President Prabowo
Subianto. The government has managed to lobby for lower export tariffs
to the United States, and has secured 0 percent import tariff facilities
for almost 1,800 commodities. ‘Including in the package are matters
relating to the work of our workers. Shoe factories, semiconductors,
furniture, textiles, and others. This is welcome news that can help push
our domestic industries’ production into the United States, a sizeable
market for staple goods,’ he explained.

General Sigit urged workers to seize these opportunities and support
downstream industrial development. One measure is to raise the quality
of human resources so that workers can compete. ‘Naturally, we also want
to push that given Indonesia’s current conditions and the economy’s
growth, we must safeguard the investment climate so that investment—both
foreign and domestic—continues to grow,’ he said.

As a tangible form of police support for upgrading workers’ capacity,
General Sigit offered open use of Police facilities. He invited KSPSI to
use the National Police School (SPN) across the country for vocational
training and skills enhancement if industrial districts lack training
spaces. ‘I call on the rank-and-file of the Police wherever they are:
the SPN we have is open for use. If you want SAR training, securing
industrial areas, or technical training, feel free. We will prepare to
help raise the quality of our human resources,’ he added.

He even instructed the Head of the Police Medical and Health Service
(Kapusdokkes) to prioritise BPJS services for workers at Bhayangkara
Hospitals across Indonesia.

Also present at the venue were KSPSI President Andi Gani Nena Wea and
KSPSI Advisory Council members Kabaintelkam Polri Commissioner General
Yuda Gustawan (Industrial Relations and Mitigation), Commissioner
General Imam Widodo (Organization), Ferriyady Hartadinata (UMKM and
Cooperatives), Irjen (P) Cahyono Wibowo (Law Enforcement). Also in
attendance were Kabareskrim Polri Commissioner General Syahardiantono,
Head of Public Relations Division Irjen Johnny Eddizon Isir, Kapusdokkes
Polri Irjen Asep Hendradiana, Karobinkar SSDM Polri Brigadier General
Langgeng Purnomo. Also present were Kapolda Metro Jaya Irjen Asep Edi
Suheri and Dirtipidter Bareskrim Polri, as Desk Task Force for Labour
Affairs led by Brigadier General Moh Irhamni.
",
