Pollycarpus 'rarely sat during flight'<\/p>\n

Pollycarpus Budihari Priyanto, a key suspect in the murder
\ncase of top human rights campaigner Munir, rarely sat in his seat
\nduring the Sept. 6, 2004 flight from Jakarta to Singapore when
\nthe arsenic that killed Munir was believed to have been given,
\naccording to witnesses.<\/p>\n
Tri Wiryaswadi, a Garuda flight attendant in the business
\nclass section during the first leg of the flight, which would
\neventually terminate in Amsterdam, testified that Pollycarpus
\nonly sat in his seat, number 11B, during takeoff and landing.<\/p>\n
\"I saw Pollycarpus standing around the bar area twice and one
\ntime he was standing in front of the restroom,\" Tri testified on
\nTuesday during the trial of Pollycarpus at the Central Jakarta
\nDistrict Court on Tuesday.<\/p>\n
He added that Pollycarpus, a senior Garuda pilot -- but not
\nactive during the flight -- was not in his seat when the food was
\nbeing served to business class passengers, including Munir. Tri
\nadded that Pollycarpus was nowhere to be seen for nearly half of
\nthe one-hour flight.<\/p>\n
However, when chief judge Cicut Sutiarso asked Tri whether he
\nknew about Pollycarpus' activities when he was standing in the
\nbar area, Tri said that he had no idea.<\/p>\n
Munir died on the Garuda flight on his way to the Netherlands.
\nA forensic investigation by the Dutch authorities found nearly
\nfour times the lethal amount of arsenic in his stomach.<\/p>\n
Pollycarpus has been accused by prosecutors of pouring arsenic
\ninto a cup of juice served as a welcome drink to Munir during the
\nflight.<\/p>\n
Another witness summoned on Tuesday to testify was Garuda crew
\nmember Yeti Susmiyarti, who served Munir the welcome drink.<\/p>\n
She confirmed Tri's testimony saying that she saw Pollycarpus
\nstanding in the bar area.<\/p>\n
\"Pollycarpus was writing something when he was standing at the
\nbar, but I didn't know what he was writing,\" Yeti said.<\/p>\n
Yeti admitted that she was the one who served beverages to
\nMunir who was seated in business class seat number 3K.<\/p>\n
However, she said that she had a lot of beverages on her tray
\nincluding orange juice, apple juice and champagne, and she did
\nnot encourage Munir to take any particular glass from her tray.<\/p>\n
The tray contained eight to ten glasses, she said, and Munir
\nhimself picked one glass and drank it.<\/p>\n
As for Pollycarpus, Yeti said that she did not pay any
\nattention to him, therefore, she did not know whether he remained
\nseated during the flight or not.<\/p>\n
Yeti and fellow Garuda crew member Oedi Irianto have also been
\nnamed suspects in the case.<\/p>\n
The trial was adjourned until Tuesday to hear more witness
\ntestimony.<\/p>",
