Pollycarpus may rat on key men in Munir murder<\/p>\n

Pollycarpus Budihari Priyanto, who has already been declared a
\nsuspect in the murder of top rights campaigner Munir, was
\nexpected to tell the court who the main actor was in the crime,
\nhis lawyer said.<\/p>\n
\"I expect Pollycarpus to disclose the whole truth (about the
\nmurder case) in the court,\" said lawyer Suhadi Somomoeljono on
\nSaturday as quoted by detikcom news portal.<\/p>\n
He said that Pollycarpus, a senior pilot\/security officer for
\nflagship carrier Garuda Indonesia, was surprised to learn that he
\nwould be charged with premeditated murder.<\/p>\n
\"Looking at the case formally, it looks like they are going
\nfor premeditated murder with Polly as the main suspect. But
\nlooking at the files and evidence ... there is hope that the
\nmastermind can be revealed in court. I hope the facts will come
\nout during the hearing,\" Suhadi said.<\/p>\n
Prosecutors are expected to soon submit the case to the court.<\/p>\n
Munir was murdered on board a Garuda flight in September last
\nyear on his way from Jakarta to Amsterdam. According to an
\nautopsy, the activist who had been a staunch critic of human
\nrights violations by the military died of arsenic poisoning.<\/p>\n
Pollycarpus has been charged with \"facilitating\" the murder by
\ngiving his business class seat to Munir, who was sitting in
\neconomy class. Pollycarpus, at the time, was officially off-duty
\non the flight.<\/p>\n
The government of President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono (a
\nretired Army general) has been under a lot of pressure to resolve
\nthe murder case, which according a recent report prepared by a
\nfact-finding team assigned to help the police in investigating
\nthe case implicates former and current officers of the National
\nIntelligence Body (BIN).<\/p>\n
Activists have urged Susilo to set up a special commission to
\nmonitor the work of the police and make sure that all the people
\nimplicated in the case will be put on trial.<\/p>\n
The case is seen as a crucial test for Susilo's commitment in
\nupholding the law in the country.<\/p>",
