The environmental damage occurring today is a direct result of
\nthe improper management of natural resources in the past.<\/p>\n
The environmental aspect was severely neglected because of the
\ngovernment's poor legal approach and the insufficient public
\nparticipation in campaigns concerning conservation.<\/p>\n
It is only proper that the office of the State Minister of the
\nEnvironment has made efforts to take those companies that have
\nneglected the environment to court. This effort must always be
\nsupported and continued, as otherwise, succeeding generations
\nwill only inherit a badly damaged environment.<\/p>\n
In this regard, political and economic situations at home and
\nabroad directly affect corporate responsibility in managing
\nnatural resources. Clearly, the government's role in ensuring
\nthat the environment is maintained well is considerable.<\/p>\n
Now that activities that damage the environment are
\ncategorized under environmental terrorism, the office of the
\nState Minister of the Environment is all the more justified to
\ntake to court those domestic or foreign companies that have
\ndamaged the environment in their business operations. It is
\nindeed a difficult job to take these companies to court, because
\nthey maintain good relations with local administrations, non-
\ngovernmental organizations, political parties and the mass media.<\/p>\n
This is why the office of the State Minister of the
\nEnvironment has only been able to bring only a handful of such
\ncompanies to justice.<\/p>\n
Nevertheless, the office must continue to be firm in dealing
\nwith environmental polluters because the majority of people,
\nparticularly the green group, continue to support this law
\nenforcement effort in the environmental sector.<\/p>\n
