        "content": "<p>Political parties eye coalition<\/p>\n<p>JAMBI: Sixteen small parties are eyeing the possibility of a<br>\ncoalition after a Constitutional Court ruling allowing small<br>\nparties to nominate their own candidates during the direct<br>\nelection of local government chief executives.<\/p>\n<p>M. Rum, an executive with the Nationhood Democracy Unity<br>\nParty, said that following the recent ruling his party had<br>\ndiscussed the possibility to forming a coalition ahead of the<br>\nelection with a number of other parties, including the Democratic<br>\nParty and the Prosperous Justice Party.<\/p>\n<p>According to the new ruling, a coalition will be valid if the<br>\nnumber of votes garnered by all the parties in the coalition<br>\namounts to more than 15 percent of the total votes cast in the<br>\ngeneral election. Before the ruling, only parties that had seats<br>\non the relevant local councils were eligible to nominate<br>\ncandidates for the direct local elections. -- JP<\/p>",
