        "content": "<p>Polish president to arrive today, expected to improve ties with RI<\/p>\n<p>Fabiola Desy Unidjaja, The Jakarta Post, Jakarta<\/p>\n<p>Polish President Aleksander Kwasniewski is slated to arrive here<br>\non Tuesday for a three-day state visit accompanied by a group of<br>\nbusinessman to improve trade ties between the two countries.<\/p>\n<p>The President is expected to hold bilateral talks with<br>\nPresident Megawati Soekarnoputri soon after he arrives at Halim<br>\nPerdanakusumah Airport from Singapore.<\/p>\n<p>The visit is aimed at paving the way for cooperation between<br>\nstate-owned companies of the two countries in the fields of<br>\naviation, telecommunications and ship-building.<\/p>\n<p>Kwasniewski is to witness the signing of at least four<br>\nMemorandums of Understanding on the second day of his visit.<\/p>\n<p>Polish Ambassador to Indonesia Krysztof Szumski said 14 Polish<br>\nbusinessmen were here with the president. They will hold talks<br>\nwith Indonesian businesspeople in an economic forum.<\/p>\n<p>Poland imports goods worth US$250 million from Indonesia and<br>\nexports to Indonesia are valued at US$17.2million.<\/p>\n<p>During the visit, Kwasniewski will pay a courtesy call to<br>\nPeople's Consultative Assembly Speaker Amien Rais and House of<br>\nRepresentatives Speaker Akbar Tandjung.<\/p>\n<p>The President will also visit Taman Mini Indonesia Indah and<br>\ntour the pavilions of Central Java, West Sumatra and South<br>\nSulawesi. He will be leaving for Bangkok on Feb. 26, the last leg<br>\nof his Southeast Asia tour.<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, Megawati canceled her plan to attend the G-15<br>\nsummit in Venezuela, a presidential staff member told journalists<br>\non Monday.<\/p>\n<p>No official announcement was made, but the busy domestic<br>\nschedule ahead of the April 5 legislative elections was cited as<br>\nthe reason for the cancellation. Megawati is also head of the<br>\nruling Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle (PDI-P). The<br>\ncampaign period will start on March 11.<\/p>\n<p>Foreign minister Hassan Wirayuda will be representing<br>\nIndonesia in the summit.<\/p>\n<p>In a related development, Libyan President Moammar Khadafy has<br>\nalso canceled his state visit to Indonesia.<\/p>\n<p>A foreign ministry official told The Jakarta Post on Monday<br>\nthat Khadafy had to attend another meeting in the region.<\/p>",
