Jakarta<\/p>\n<p>JAKARTA (JP): The West Jakarta mayoralty is determined to make<br>\nthe government's polio eradication program a success by<br>\nconducting en masse immunizations, an official said yesterday.<\/p>\n<p>Kholik Masulilik, head of the mayoralty's health office, said<br>\n5,000 personnel had been assigned to immunize the 181,000<br>\nchildren under five in West Jakarta.<\/p>\n<p>The government has designated Sept. 13 and Oct. 18 as national<br>\nimmunization days. The massive polio immunization scheme is part<br>\nof the World Health Organization's effort entitled World Free of<br>\nPolio by the year 2,000.<\/p>\n<p>On the day, each child will be given two oral polio<br>\nimmunization drops at immunization posts in hospitals, public<br>\nhealth centers, playgrounds, bus and railway stations, and even<br>\nmarkets.<\/p>\n<p>Kholik called on parents to take children under five to the<br>\nnearest post.(29)<\/p>",
