        "content": "<p>Policewoman helps convict flee<\/p>\n<p>Abdul Khalik, The Jakarta Post\/Jakarta<\/p>\n<p>A policewoman with the Central Jakarta Police has been arrested<br>\nfor allegedly assisting in the escape of her boyfriend, a<br>\nconvicted murderer.<\/p>\n<p>City Police chief Insp. Gen. Firman Gani said on Friday that<br>\nFirst Inspector Ida Handayani had been arrested in Bekasi, West<br>\nJava last Tuesday for her role in the escape of Marine Second<br>\nCorporal Suud Rusli, a convicted killer of PT Asaba director<br>\nBoedyharto Angsono.<\/p>\n<p>It is not clear how Ida helped Suud escape, but a source at<br>\nthe city police said Ida had known of Suud's whereabouts when he<br>\nwas on the run and had given him at least Rp 300,000 during that<br>\nperiod.<\/p>\n<p>Suud and fellow marine Second Lt. Syam Ahmad, were court-<br>\nmartialled and convicted last year for killing Boedyharto in July<br>\n2003. The two were sentenced to death and dishonorably discharged<br>\nfrom the Navy.<\/p>\n<p>They escaped from a Navy prison in Jakarta on May 5. Suud was<br>\nrecaptured on May 31 while Syam is still at large.<\/p>\n<p>Suud remains in hospital after being shot by Navy officers as<br>\nhe resisted being recaptured.<\/p>\n<p>Firman said that police were interrogating Ida as a suspect<br>\nand another officer, identified as First Inspector S.B., as a<br>\nwitness in Suud's escape.<\/p>\n<p>\"We are now investigating their involvement in helping the<br>\nprisoner run away,\" Firman said.<\/p>\n<p>City police internal affairs chief Sr. Comr. Anwaruddin<br>\nconfirmed they were still questioning the two policewomen.<\/p>\n<p>He said Ida would be charged under Article 221 of the Criminal<br>\nCode on assisting in the escape of a prisoner, while SB would<br>\nface interrogation for allegedly lending Ida money to help Suud<br>\nevade police.<\/p>",
