Policeman shoots hoodlum dead<\/p>\n
JAKARTA: The Central Jakarta police arrested a low-ranking
\npolice officer who shot to death a hoodlum following a clash
\nbetween them in Bongkaran prostitution complex in Tanah Abang,
\nCentral Jakarta, early on Monday morning.<\/p>\n
The incident took place at around 1:30 a.m., when hoodlum
\nSundah knocked on the door of Gustina, a prostitute, to ask for a
\ndaily "security fee" that she had not yet paid.<\/p>\n
Gustina told Sec. Brig. Hasan, her boyfriend, who was staying
\nat her house, and both men became involved in an argument.<\/p>\n
Hasan allegedly shot Sundah in his chest as the latter
\nattempted to attack him with a machete. Sundah died immediately
\nat the scene.<\/p>\n
Sundah was sentenced to one year imprisonment due to his
\ninvolvement in the bombing of Ramayana department store on Jl.
\nSabang, Central Jakarta, in 1999.<\/p>\n
He reportedly became the gang leader in Bongkaran after East
\nTimorese notorious hoodlum Hercules had left the area last year.
