Police warn violators<\/p>\n
JAKARTA: National Police spokesman Brig. Gen. Nurfaizi
\nhas issued a fresh warning against those attempting to foil the
\ngeneral election.<\/p>\n
He said stern action would be taken against those violating
\nthe law.<\/p>\n
Nurfaizi identified several groups in the community which he
\nsaid had a tendency to stir up trouble, and might plan to wreak
\nhavoc in the coming election campaign and the poll.<\/p>\n
\"This doesn't mean we're trying to find scapegoats for
\nproblems that might occur later,\" he said.<\/p>\n
A total 189,060 police officers would be deployed during the
\ncampaign and election period, he said.<\/p>\n
The United Development Party has prepared 1,692 speakers for
\nthe nationwide campaign, the Golongan Karya 1,090 speakers, and
\nthe Indonesian Democratic Party 252 speakers, Nurfaizi said.<\/p>\n
\"Each police officer will safeguard four voting booths. He
\nwill be supported by six civil securities,\" he said.<\/p>\n
As many as 5,000 personnel from City Police headquarters
\nyesterday held the final security drill in preparation for the
\ncampaign and poll at the former Kemayoran airport, Central
