Police vow to nab Bojong vandals<\/p>\n

Bogor police will arrest the vandals of Bojong waste treatment
\nplant four days ago, chief Sr. Comr. Bambang Wasgito said on
\nFriday.<\/p>\n
Speaking at a meeting to mediate talks between facility
\noperator PT Wira Sarana Sejahtera, Bogor administration, and
\nlocal residents, Wasgito said on Friday that the police would
\ninvestigate and capture the vandals.<\/p>\n
The meeting, held at Bogor Police Headquarters, was not
\nattended by any of the villagers opposing the plant.<\/p>\n
Wasgito suspected Yos Triasa of the Communication Forum of
\nPeople who Care for the Environment, an organization established
\nlast year by residents of seven villages surrounding the plant,
\nand Ipang, a Bojong resident, as being involved in the riot.<\/p>\n
A security post, four motorcycle's and the plant's office were
\nleft in ruins as a result of Monday's attack. Nobody was reported
\ninjured in the incident.<\/p>\n
Residents are opposed to the facility because they fear
\nenvironmental damage and health hazards such as what occurred in
\nBantar Gebang dump, Bekasi.<\/p>\n
Bogor administration and police have said that the plant is a
\nwaste treatment facility and is different from Bantar Gebang
\ndump, which uses a landfill system that had polluted neighboring
\nareas and caused respiratory problems and skin diseases.<\/p>\n
In a letter from the forum to Bogor police, made available to
\nThe Jakarta Post, it requested that the West Java and Bogor
\nregency Councils should mediate talks between the parties
\ninvolved.<\/p>\n
\"If the administration or the operator keeps pushing the
\noperation of the plant, we fear that there will be continuous
\nresistance from residents,\" said the forum.<\/p>\n
\"Please, hear the voices of the locals, who will be directly
\naffected by the project's policies.\"<\/p>",
