Irhamni, has urged workers to resolve industrial disputes\nthrough mediation facilitated by the desk. During a press conference at\nthe National Police Criminal Investigation Agency building in Jakarta on\nThursday, he stated that layoffs are unavoidable amid the current\nuncertain global situation. \u201cThe development of the strategic\nenvironment influences and impacts the national situation. This has\nforced employers to resort to layoffs,\u201d he said. He explained that\nworkers can report to the Police Manpower Desk at the headquarters,\nregional, and district levels if they find injustice in the layoff\nprocess. The police will then help mediate between workers and the\ncompany. He said that with this mechanism, workers do not need to stage\ndemonstrations or public speeches to demand justice. \u201cThere is no need\nfor demonstration activities that might actually cause other problems,\u201d\nIrhamni said. On the other hand, mediation will also provide a sense of\nprotection for companies wanting to invest, which will ultimately boost\nthe national economy. \u201cIn a situation like this, we must not let\ndemonstrations cause employers to leave our country and invest in other\nnations,\u201d he said.
