        "content": "<p>Jakarta Metropolitan Police have urged all elements of society\nplanning to hold demonstrations in Jakarta to maintain public order and\nrefrain from damaging public facilities during the expression of their\nviews.<\/p>\n<p>Head of Public Relations of Jakarta Metropolitan Police, Senior\nCommissioner Budi Hermanto, stressed that joint security personnel are\nready to provide ample space for citizens wishing to express their\naspirations in public in accordance with the law, but this must be done\npolitely and responsibly.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe urge members of the public who are expressing their aspirations\nnot to damage public facilities, not to disrupt the activities of other\nmembers of the public, and to continue thinking about keeping Indonesia\nsafe, peaceful and conducive,\u201d Budi said when met at the DPR Building in\nJakarta on Wednesday.<\/p>\n<p>He explained that the expression of opinion in public is guaranteed\nby Article 9 of Law Number 9 of 1998, which accommodates demonstrations,\ndeliberations, public meetings and marches.<\/p>\n<p>However, the exercise of this right must not harm the public interest\nor damage city facilities and infrastructure.<\/p>\n<p>To maintain security and order in the city, officers have deployed\npersonnel at several points where crowds are expected to gather,\nespecially in the area of the DPR\/MPR RI Building and the strategic\nroute from the Hotel Indonesia roundabout to the State Palace.<\/p>\n<p>In addition to the appeal to protect public facilities, Budi also\nasked the public to be smart and wise in filtering information on social\nmedia so as not to be easily influenced by provocative issues, slander\nor disinformation surrounding the security situation in Jakarta.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe also urge all levels of society to be wise in using social media.\nBecause as time goes by we see more and more disinformation, slander,\nprovocation and misleading issues, we hope the public will also be wise\nin filtering such information,\u201d said Budi.<\/p>\n<p>Jakarta Metropolitan Police have prepared personnel at various points\nin Jakarta to oversee the demonstration scheduled to take place on\nThursday (27\/8).<\/p>\n<p>The police are coordinating with the Indonesian National Armed\nForces, the Jakarta Provincial Government and internal security officers\nat various points, including the DPR and agencies in the area around the\nHotel Indonesia roundabout towards the Jakarta Presidential Palace.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAt several of these points we have also made preparations for\nsecuring the expression of opinion,\u201d said Head of Public Relations of\nJakarta Metropolitan Police, Police Senior Commissioner Budi Hermanto,\nwhen met at the DPR RI Building in Jakarta on Wednesday.<\/p>",
