The Narcotics Unit of the Central Jakarta Metropolitan Police has\nuncovered a drug trafficking case involving more than one kilogramme of\ncrystal methamphetamine in the Pasar Baru area. A 32-year-old man,\nidentified by the initials RN, was arrested on Tuesday evening for\nallegedly acting as an intermediary in the sale and purchase of\nnarcotics.<\/p>\n
Central Jakarta Police Chief Senior Commissioner Reynold E.P.\nHutagalung stated on Saturday that the case came to light after Unit II\nof the Narcotics Unit received a tip-off from the public about suspected\ndrug distribution in the Pasar Baru area of Sawah Besar, Central\nJakarta. Officers subsequently conducted an investigation and\napprehended RN at around 7.30 p.m. Western Indonesia Time next to the\nHome Decor Indonesia shop on Jalan Pintu Air Raya, Pasar Baru.<\/p>\n
During a search, police discovered a clear plastic package containing\ncrystal methamphetamine with a gross weight of approximately 1,022.3\ngrammes stored inside a black and green bag. Officers also seized two\nmobile phones, a Pocco and an OPPO, as well as a Honda Vario motorcycle\nbelieved to have been used in the drug distribution activities.<\/p>\n
The police chief emphasised that the case reflects the force\u2019s\ncommitment to eradicating drug trafficking. \u201cWe will not give any space\nto drug traffickers in the Central Jakarta area. We will follow up on\nevery piece of information from the public, as it is a crucial part of\nmaintaining security and saving the younger generation,\u201d he said. He\nalso urged the public to play an active role in protecting their\nneighbourhoods from the threat of drugs and to contact the Police Call\nCentre on 110 if they witness any criminal activity or require police\nassistance.<\/p>\n
Head of the Central Jakarta Narcotics Unit, Assistant Commissioner\nWisnu S. Kuncoro, explained that the suspect acted as a courier within\nthe distribution network. \u201cThe suspect RN obtained the methamphetamine\nfrom an individual with the initials EL. He was then waiting for\ninstructions to hand over the goods to another party. We are currently\nconducting further investigations to uncover the rest of the network,\u201d\nhe stated. The suspect is charged under Article 114 paragraph (2) of Law\nNumber 35 of 2009 on Narcotics, in conjunction with Law Number 1 of 2026\non Criminal Code Adjustments.
