        "content": "<p>Police to begin discipline drive<\/p>\n<p>JAKARTA: Jakarta Police revealed on Thursday that it would<br>\nlaunch a campaign to ensure greater compliance of existing<br>\ntraffic signs and regulations among both drivers and pedestrians<br>\nalong some of the capital's thoroughfares.<\/p>\n<p>City Police spokesman Sr. Comr. Anton Bachrul Alam said on<br>\nThursday that the campaign will be launched on March 1 and was in<br>\nresponse to rising concerns that many street-users pay scant<br>\nattention to traffic regulations.<\/p>\n<p>The campaign will affect roads from Blok M, in South Jakarta,<br>\nto the Harmoni area in Central Jakarta, and from Pancoran to<br>\nSlipi in West Jakarta, Anton said.<\/p>\n<p>\"We will deploy some 600 police officers to control and<br>\nenforce the campaign,\" said Anton.<\/p>\n<p>The specified areas are intended as a pilot project for other<br>\nareas. \"The program will be evaluated in three months,\" he added.<\/p>\n<p>The police will give a two-week-long grace period, but as from<br>\nMarch 15, they will start fining those who violate the areas'<br>\nregulations, he warned. -- JP<\/p>",
