Police submit fuel depot file<\/p>\n
JAKARTA: The police case against two PT Pertamina officials
\nallegedly involved in stealing fuel from the firm's Plumpang fuel
\ndepot has been submitted to the Jakarta Prosecutor's Office after
\na four-month investigation.<\/p>\n
Jakarta Police have named depot technical director Sasmita
\nUtama and depot unit III head Umar Fahmi as the main suspects.<\/p>\n
Fraud squad head Sr. Comr. Edmon Ilyas said on Friday police
\nhad only charged the two men with violating Law No. 2\/1981 on
\nweight and measures because of a lack of corroborating evidence.<\/p>\n
\"Initially we expected to charge them under the anti-
\ncorruption law and the weight and measures law. However, as we
\nhave to audit the depot's financial report and it might take a
\nyear, we have only charged them with the weight and measures
\nlaw,\" Edmon said.<\/p>\n
Police have estimated that up to 100,000 liters of fuel was
\nstolen a day from Plumpang and sent to Tangerang and Bekasi. They
\ndid not provide details about the period of the alleged offense,
