Jakarta, Kompas.com - Greater Jakarta Police have affirmed that the\nreport of alleged treason against political analyst Saiful Mujani does\nnot necessarily result in criminal proceedings.<\/p>\n
Head of Public Relations for Greater Jakarta Police, Senior\nCommissioner Budi Hermanto, stated that every report received undergoes\nan investigation stage to ascertain the presence or absence of criminal\nelements.<\/p>\n
\u201cIf no criminal elements are found, there is insufficient evidence,\nno supporting witnesses, and the evidence is not related to criminal\nmatters, the investigation can be halted or not proceeded to the\nprosecution stage,\u201d Budi told reporters at Greater Jakarta Police\nheadquarters on Friday (10\/4\/2026).<\/p>\n
He emphasised that not all public reports automatically advance to\nthe investigation phase.<\/p>\n
The case involving Saiful Mujani is currently at the deepening stage\nby investigators.<\/p>\n
Police, according to Budi, will examine all elements, including\nevidence and witness statements, before determining the next legal\nsteps.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe report will also undergo investigation and prosecution,\u201d he\nsaid.<\/p>\n
Furthermore, he explained that the police cannot reject reports\nsubmitted by the public.<\/p>\n
However, the final outcome of the report heavily depends on the\nfindings during the investigation process.<\/p>\n
Previously, Saiful Mujani was reported to Greater Jakarta Police for\nalleged treason following his statement, deemed to incite the overthrow\nof President Prabowo Subianto, which went viral on social media.<\/p>\n
The report was registered under number LP\/B\/2428\/IV\/2026\/SPKT\/POLDA\nMETRO JAYA dated 8 April 2026. The complainant is recorded as Aliansi\nMasyarakat Jakarta Timur.<\/p>\n
A clip of Saiful\u2019s statement at a halal bihalal forum came under\nscrutiny after it was reposted by Presidential Staff Office Senior\nExpert Ulta Levenia on her personal Instagram account.<\/p>\n

In the 35-second video, Saiful stated that efforts to save Indonesia\ninvolve toppling President Prabowo.<\/p>\n
He also mentioned that advising the President would not be\neffective.<\/p>\n
