Police shoot and kill alleged thief<\/p>\n
Tangerang Police detectives shot dead an alleged member of a gang
\nof motorcycle thieves operating in Pasar Kemis district,
\nTangerang regency, early on Tuesday.<\/p>\n
The chief of detectives, Adj. Comr. Kustanto, identified the
\nsuspect as Sakam, 23, a resident of Larangan village, Rajek
\ndistrict, Tangerang regency.<\/p>\n
Kustanto said the suspect was shot and killed as he tried to
\nescape while leading police to his accomplices. He added that the
\nsuspected ignored repeated warning shots fired by officers.<\/p>\n
He said the suspect was arrested at his residence on Monday
\nevening and later was asked to lead officers to his accomplices
\nin Sukatani village, Pasar Kemis.<\/p>\n
\"As soon as we arrived in Sukatani village and got out of the
\ncar, the suspect ran away, ignoring our warning shots,\" Kustanto
\nsaid.<\/p>\n
He said officers shot the suspect twice in the back, killing
