Police say bomb suspect Azahari still in Bandung<\/p>\n

Intelligence suggests that key terror suspect Dr. Azahari is
\nstill in Bandung, according to the Bandung metropolitan police.<\/p>\n
Sr. Comr. Hendra Sukmana, the chief of Bandung Police, said
\nthe city's security status had been increased to top alert and he
\nhad advised Bandung Mayor Dada Rosada to instruct all
\nneighborhood chiefs in the city to enforce the registration of
\nall guests staying at people's homes for more than 24 hours.<\/p>\n
Hendra also suggested that Bandung residents revive nightly
\npatrols in their neighborhoods to maintain security.<\/p>\n
\"We recently received credible information that he is still in
\nthe city. We cannot afford to miss another arrest and are hunting
\nfor him,\" he said.<\/p>\n
Hendra refused to disclose the source of information.<\/p>\n
Azahari is a suspect in last year's JW Marriott bombing that
\nkilled 12 people. He and fellow Malaysian Noordin Mohd. Top are
\nalso suspected of involvement in the Bali bombing two years ago.<\/p>\n
Two other accomplices, Tohir and Ismail, were arrested and
\ntestified in court that both Azahari and Noordin had planned the
\nMarriott bombing while living in Cigadung, north Bandung.<\/p>\n
Asmar Latin Sani, who died in the Marriott bombing, also
\nattended meetings at the house.<\/p>\n
After the bombing, Azahari and Noordin moved to another rented
\nhouse in Tamansari, Bandung, near the Bandung Institute of
\nTechnology (ITB).<\/p>\n
Police raided the house in October, but the two had already
\nfled. TNT was found in the house.<\/p>\n
Hendra said all Bandung residents should help search for the
\ntwo suspects, as they were a threat to the community.<\/p>\n
If they are not arrested soon, they could recruit more bombers
\nand target public areas in the city.<\/p>\n
Last year, police distributed leaflets bearing the photographs
\nof two of the most wanted men -- Azahari and Noordin -- in hotels
\nand public places in Bandung, as they appealed for the public's
\nhelp to track down the terrorist suspects.<\/p>\n
Hotel managements in Bandung, meanwhile, blamed Azahari and
\nNoordin for the sudden drop in hotel occupancy rates in the city.<\/p>\n
Besides the two suspects, other fugitives include Dulmatin,
\nwho allegedly helped in the Bali bomb construction, and
\nZulkarnaen, whom police have called a \"mastermind\" of the Bali
\nattacks.<\/p>\n
Dulmatin, who remains at large, is an explosives expert who
\nwas trained by Azahari and also allegedly played a prominent role
\nin the bomb attacks.<\/p>\n
The attacks have been blamed on al-Qaeda-linked Jamaah
\nIslamiyah (JI) terror network, which is also accused of a string
\nof other attacks.<\/p>\n
Police have managed to capture over 30 people, including
\nmasterminds Amrozi, Imam Samudra and Mukhlas in the Bali bombing
\ncase. Most of them have been tried and three have been sentenced
\nto death while others received long jail sentences, including
\nlife imprisonment.<\/p>",
