Police round up 46 without ID cards<\/p>\n
JAKARTA (JP): Police and government officials in Tangerang
\nnetted 46 people, who had hit the streets without ID cards, in an
\noperation early Thursday.<\/p>\n
Tangerang Police chief Lt. Col. Aryanto Boedihardjo said the
\ngovernment would \"take the necessary legal action\" against those
\nwithout identification. He did not elaborate.<\/p>\n
\"Citizens should not go out without ID cards so that, if
\nanything happened to them, the authorities could contact their
\nrelatives,\" Aryanto said as quoted by Antara.<\/p>\n
The Kilat Jaya operation, which primarily targeted migrants,
\nwas held near Cikokol and Cimone bus terminals as well as in the
\ntown's park which is a popular refuge for destitute newcomers.<\/p>\n
\"I never imagined that authorities in Tangerang would conduct
\nsuch an operation,\" Santi, alias Setio Nugroho, a transvestite
\nfrom Cilacap, Central Java, who was caught in the park, said.<\/p>\n
Tangerang mayoralty is determined to turn away job seekers
\nwithout documents on the grounds that they will only worsen the
