Police return Tommy's cars<\/p>\n
JAKARTA: Police have returned six cars belonging to Hutomo
\n"Tommy" Mandala Putra that were seized as evidence during
\ncriminal investigations into the former fugitive.<\/p>\n
City Police Spokesman, Sr. Cmr. Anton Bachrul Alam, said that
\nthe vehicles, which were confiscated by police from an automotive
\nworkshop in Kebon Jerok last September, were not related to
\nTommy's cases.<\/p>\n
The vehicles -- a Timor Jeep, a caravan, two golf carts and
\ntwo Toyota Celica racing cars -- were handed over to Tommy's
\nlawyer, Elza Syarief.<\/p>\n
The police raided the workshop last September as part of its
\nefforts to arrest Tommy, who went on the run after the Supreme
\nCourt sentenced him to 18 months in jail for corruption in
\nNovember 2000.<\/p>\n
During the raid, the police confiscated 10 cars, but four of
\nthem apparently belonged to other customers of the workshop. --
