Police rescue woman from tower<\/p>\n
JAMBI, Jambi: Local police special forces members rescued a
\ndistressed woman after she abandoned a suicide attempt on a
\ntelevision transmission tower here at dawn on Monday.<\/p>\n
It took the police an hour to bring the woman, identified as
\nRebiani from Sragen, Central Java, down the 60-meter tower
\nbelonging to private station RCTI. Rebiani was exhausted and
\ndehydrated after apparently sitting on the tower for seven hours.<\/p>\n
People in the town were unable to receive RCTI broadcasts
\nwhile she was on the tower.<\/p>\n
A member of the rescue team, Second Lt. Avivi, told Antara the
\nwoman screamed in fear when police found her. \"She called a name
\nand said 'don't rape me again',\" Avivi said.<\/p>\n
He said Rebiani agreed to go down after police convinced her
\nthey would arrest the man she said had raped her, who she
\nidentified as Leman.<\/p>\n
Hundreds of residents living near the tower on Jl. Pattimura
\nin Jambi's outskirts watched the rescue operation.<\/p>\n
Rebiani was admitted to the hospital and will face police
\nquestioning.<\/p>",
