Police question six in Marriott probe<\/p>\n

The six terrorist suspects arrested in Sukoharjo, Central Java on
\nWednesday morning were involved in both the deadly Bali bombings
\nin October 2002 and the JW Marriott Hotel attack on Aug. 5, 2003,
\npolice authorities said.<\/p>\n
National Police chief Gen. Da'i Bachtiar said in Semarang,
\nCentral Java on Thursday that the six played a central role in
\nplanning and preparing the two attacks.<\/p>\n
The six have been identified as Musta'im alias Widi alias
\nWadi, Yunus, Bejo, Adam, Widadi and Mar'atus Shalihah, the wife
\nof house owner Sudadi, where the suspects were arrested on
\nWednesday morning.<\/p>\n
Over 200 people were killed and some 300 others were injured
\nin the Bali bombings, while the Marriott attack killed 12 people
\nand injured over 100 others.<\/p>\n
Da'i said interrogations also revealed that the six were
\ninvolved in the planning of the United Nations building terrorist
\nattack in 2003.<\/p>\n
He expressed optimism that the arrest would greatly help
\npolice authorities to capture the country's most wanted terrorist
\nsuspects -- Malaysians Azahari bin Husin and Noordin Moh. Top --
\nwho are believed to be still in the country.<\/p>\n
\"We hope they can lead us to Azahari bin Husin and Noordin Moh
\nTop because we believe they (the six suspects) have cooperated to
\nlaunch both attacks,\" said Da'i.<\/p>\n
Both Azahari and Noordin, who are still at large, are wanted
\nfor their roles in the Bali bombing in 2002 and the Marriott
\nattack in 2003.<\/p>\n
In Jakarta, police chief of detectives Comr. Gen. Suyitno
\nLandung Sudjono said authorities found several guns and dozens of
\nbullets with the arrested terrorist suspects.<\/p>\n
He said the six were now being questioned at the Central Java
\nPolice headquarters to find their accomplices and their exact
\nrole in the attacks.<\/p>\n
Neither Da'i nor Suyitno said whether the six were members of
\nJamaah Islamiyah (JI), the al-Qaeda-linked terror group, which is
\nbelieved to be behind all the major bomb attacks across the
\ncountry.<\/p>\n
Suyitno said police managed to capture the six following
\nintensive interrogation of a man identified as Dahlan who was
\narrested in Bima, West Nusa Tenggara (NTB) on Sunday.<\/p>\n
Police director for the Antiterror Division, Brig. Gen.
\nPranowo, said Dahlan was now on the way to Police Headquarters in
\nJakarta.<\/p>\n
He said Dahlan was connected to a man called Adi Suryana, who
\nwas arrested in Surabaya, East Java on January 9 on suspicion of
\nterror plots, including a plan to bomb the National Police and
\nthe Jakarta Police headquarters.<\/p>\n
Adi is a member of an alleged terrorist organization called
\nGroup 12, which police suspect have planned all the bomb attacks
\nthat hit the country in the last four years.<\/p>\n
\"Dahlan is one of the members of the group. We have arrested
\nall 12 in several cities across the country,\" said Pranowo.<\/p>\n
Meanwhile, the South Jakarta District Court sentenced three
\naccomplices of the Marriott bombers to seven years in prison each
\nfor storing and transporting explosives used in the Aug. 5
\nattack.<\/p>",
