        "content": "<p>Pati City Police, Central Java, are continuing to investigate the\nalleged molestation of several female students at Ndolo Kusumo Islamic\nBoarding School in Tlogowungu Subdistrict, Pati Regency, by examining\nthe boarding school caretaker with initials AS, who holds suspect\nstatus. \u201cThis examination is part of the investigation phase following\nthe suspect\u2019s designation on 28 April 2026. Today, we examined the\nboarding school caretaker as a suspect,\u201d said Head of Pati Police\nResort, Commissioner General of Police Jaka Wahyudi, accompanied by Head\nof Public Relations Division of Central Java Regional Police,\nCommissioner General of Police Artanto, during the security of a\nfishermen\u2019s demonstration at the Pati Regency Office, on Monday. He\nexplained that before designating the suspect, investigators had\ncompleted the case file by examining the reporter, several witnesses,\nand expert witnesses. The suspect AS was also previously examined in the\ncapacity of a witness. \u201cAfter all examinations were conducted and the\nevidence deemed sufficient, investigators designated him as a suspect on\n28 April 2026,\u201d he stated. According to Jaka, the suspect AS is\ncurrently in the Pati area and has been cooperative throughout the legal\nprocess. He also emphasised that information claiming the suspect AS had\nfled was untrue. The case originated from a victim\u2019s report in 2024.\nHowever, the process encountered obstacles due to attempts at\nfamily-based settlements by the victim\u2019s side, leading some witnesses to\nretract their statements. \u201cInitially, there were statements from several\nvictims, but some retracted them. To date, only one reporter remains\nactive,\u201d he revealed. Nevertheless, investigators proceeded with the\nlegal process after receiving corroboration from other witnesses\nconfirming the incident. Regarding circulating information about the\nnumber of victims allegedly reaching dozens, the police stated they have\nnot received official statements supporting such claims. \u201cWe have not\nobtained statements or witness testimonies indicating that many\nvictims,\u201d he said.
