Police promise to arrest sadistic killer soon<\/p>\n
JAKARTA (JP): The culprits in Monday's sadistic killing of a
\nmother and her three children in Ciracas, East Jakarta, have been
\nidentified and police say they could be arrested soon.<\/p>\n
The badly mutilated bodies of a woman and her three children
\nwere found on Monday in a house in Ciracas, East Jakarta, in what
\npolice say is one of the most sadistic crimes ever committed
\nhere.<\/p>\n
Jakarta police chief Maj. Gen. Dibyo Widodo said yesterday
\nthat police hoped the perpetrators of the multiple murders would
\nbe apprehended soon.<\/p>\n
\"Several people have been questioned, including the victim's
\nhusband,\" Dibyo said.<\/p>\n
Dibyo added that police were assuming that the murderers were
\nknown to the victim.<\/p>\n
\"It is probable that the murderers were known by the victims,
\nsince they came to the victim's house as guests,\" Dibyo said.<\/p>\n
Meanwhile, Rohadi, the woman's husband, yesterday visited the
\nCipto Mangunkusumo general hospital where the bodies of his wife
\nand children had been taken for autopsies. He arrived at the
\nhospital morgue at 10:45 a.m. under police guard, his face
\ncovered with a cloth.<\/p>\n
At the hospital Rohadi met with Uga Wiranto, vice-chairwoman
\nof the Jakarta branch of the ruling political grouping Golkar, as
\nwell as with the wife of Jakarta Military Commander Maj. Gen.
\nWiranto, who came to the morgue to donate money and give moral
\nsupport.<\/p>\n
Uga said the Jakarta branch of Golkar would pay all the
\ntransportation costs needed for the burial of the bodies in
\nCirebon, West Java. She said the Golkar branch was also prepared
\nto pay for the education of Rohadi's two remaining children.<\/p>\n
Rohadi left the hospital at 11:45 a.m. without seeing the
\nremains of his wife and three children, which were taken to
\nCirebon for burial in the afternoon.<\/p>\n
Four schools<\/p>\n
Rohadi teaches at four different schools: the SMPN 82 junior
\nhigh school, the Trimulya senior high school, the Pangeran
\nJayakarta senior high school and the SMIP Putera Nusantara
\nsenior-high for tourism. He teaches economics, Arabic and
\nPancasila ideology.<\/p>\n
Kusmadi, one of Rohadi's colleagues at the SMPN 82 junior high
\nschool, said Rohadi had already left the school when police
\narrived to look for him at about 1:30 p.m. on the day of the
\nmurders.<\/p>\n
\"Rohadi said he had to teach in Cibinong,\" Kusmadi said.<\/p>\n
One of Rohadi's students, however, said that Rohadi's teaching
\nschedule in Cibinong was not for Monday but Tuesday.<\/p>\n
Saiful, Rohadi's colleague at the Pangeran Jayakarta senior
\nhigh school, said that police picked Rohadi from that school at
\nabout 5 p.m.<\/p>\n
Meanwhile, police detectives are working hard to find
\nadditional evidence and witnesses to support their case against
\n\"the identified suspect.\"<\/p>\n
They are also trying to find out the identity of a person who
\nmade a mysterious telephone call to Rohadi's school several hours
\nafter the tragedy, saying that the teacher had incurred serious
\nwounds during a fight with a number of people on his way to teach
\nat another school.<\/p>\n
After searching for several hours, police finally found Rohadi
\nteaching at a junior high school on Jl. Jayakarta in West Jakarta
\nat approximately 5 p.m., about five hours after his wife and
\nthree children were found dead.<\/p>\n
Phone call<\/p>\n
The small and thin university graduate told the police later
\nthat he had no idea about the fake phone call, nor the caller.<\/p>\n
\"We really hope that Rohadi can help us to solve this brutal
\nmurder of his family members,\" a senior police detective told The
\nJakarta Post yesterday.<\/p>\n
So far, investigation of the crime scene has not yielded any
\nvaluable clues which could lead police detectives to discover the
\ncrime motive.<\/p>\n
\"We have not even found the instruments used by the suspects,\"
\nsaid the detective, who asked not to be named.<\/p>\n
The senior officer said he believed that the cold-blooded
\nmurder had nothing to do with robbery or the business activities
\nof the family.<\/p>\n
A number of fingerprints have been collected from the scene of
\nthe crime. They are still being examined by the National Police
\nForensic Laboratory.<\/p>\n
Rohadi's brother-in-Law, Didi Pendi, said that, as of
\nyesterday, Rohadi and his two children were staying at the
\nCiracas police precinct.<\/p>\n
Karyati, one of Rohadi's neighbors, said Rohadi usually left
\nhome early in the morning and returned in the evening.<\/p>\n
\"He leaves at about 5:30 a.m in the morning and comes home
\nafter 7 p.m.,\" she said.<\/p>\n
She said Rohadi's wife, Elly, was a housewife who was busy
\nlooking after her five children every day.<\/p>\n
\"She did not participate in either pengajian meetings (Islamic
\nstudy gatherings) or in arisan (savings group) gatherings held by
\nwives in the neighborhood. She said she was too busy taking care
