Police officer, driver shot during armed bank robbery<\/p>\n
JAKARTA (JP): East Jakarta Police detectives are searching for
\nfour men in connection with the shooting of a police officer and
\na civilian during an armed bank robbery on Jl. Raden Inten in
\nDuren Sawit, East Jakarta, on Friday morning.<\/p>\n
City police chief of detectives Sr. Comr. Harry Montolalu
\nidentified the victims as First Brig. Solihin and driver Albert
\nManurung. Both are in critical condition. Bank teller Paramitha,
\nwho was also victimized, was left unharmed.<\/p>\n
Albert is receiving medical treatment at Islam Pondok Kopi
\nHospital and officer Solihin at Persahabatan Hospital, both
\nlocated in East Jakarta.<\/p>\n
Harry said the victims were scheduled to transfer Rp 950
\nmillion (US$100,000) from Bank Global's Jatinegara branch to its
\nCakung branch.<\/p>\n
\"It was the bank's money. The victims drove an operational
\nblue Kijang van, license number B 7216 EB. The incident occurred
\nat 11:30 a.m. on Friday,\" Harry told reporters.<\/p>\n
Harry said that on the way to Cakung, four men on two Yamaha
\nRX-King motorcycles, came \"out of nowhere\" and surrounded the
\nvan, just as it reached the Duren Sawit gas station on Jl. Raden
\nInten.<\/p>\n
\"Using an FN gun, one robber shot at the driver's window,
\nsmashing it. The bullet went through Albert's stomach. The robber
\nopened the door and shot Albert in the right shoulder as well,\"
\nHarry said.<\/p>\n
\"When officer Solihin tried to take out his weapon, he was
\nshot in the right side of the jaw ... the bullet exited through
\nthe left side of his jaw. He was also shot near the right
\nshoulder.\"<\/p>\n
Harry said the robbers threw the officer and Albert out of the
\nvan, leaving them near the gas station, and sped off with the
\nterrified Paramitha and the money.<\/p>\n
While nearby residents rushed Albert to Islam Pondok Kopi
\nHospital and officer Solihin to Persahabatan Hospital, police
\nofficers found the blue van abandoned in Pulau Jahe market, Duren
\nSawit.<\/p>\n
\"Paramitha was inside the van, in total shock. A huge portion
\nof the Rp 950 million was gone. Cakung Police officers are
\nwaiting for Paramitha to regain her composure before questioning
