        "content": "<p>Police name 12 IAIN students as suspects<\/p>\n<p>BANDUNG, West Java: Bandung Police named on Monday 12 students at<br>\nstate Sunan Gunung Djati Islamic Institute (IAIN Sunan Gunung<br>\nDjati) as suspects in the death of student Imam Nawawi, during an<br>\nextracurricular activity at the institute on Friday.<\/p>\n<p>Eight students were named suspects after they were accused of<br>\nbeating Imam, and the remaining four, who were committee members<br>\nin the Basic Training for Nature Lovers in the institute, were<br>\nalso named suspects for negligence that led to Imam's death.<\/p>\n<p>Bandung Police chief of detectives Adj. Comr. Slamet Uliandi<br>\nsaid that the case was the second in Bandung in the last three<br>\nyears.<\/p>\n<p>In August 2001, Hendrik Tano Senjaya, a student at Parahyangan<br>\nCatholic University also died after attending a basic training<br>\nheld by the Student Regiment (Menwa) at the university.<\/p>\n<p>Imam died after he joined a 40-kilometer march from Situ<br>\nLembang in north Bandung to the Sunan Gunung Djati Islamic<br>\nInstitute campus in East Bandung.<\/p>\n<p>The eight suspects were charged under Article 170 of the<br>\nCriminal Code for causing death, which carries a maximum sentence<br>\nof 12 years in prison. Four others were charged with negligence<br>\nresulting in death, under Article 359 of the Criminal Code that<br>\ncarries a maximum sentence of five years in prison. -- JP<\/p>",
