Because of mass vandalism, since the reform era up to now,
\nincalculable assets have been destroyed, set on fire and many
\nlives have been taken.<\/p>\n
It seems the values of civilization have dramatically
\ndecreased in line with the discoloring of humanitarian feelings
\nin this country which boasts Pancasila as its state philosophy.<\/p>\n
Brutal actions by the masses taken against the parties
\nconsidered guilty either as black magicians, criminals or traffic
\nviolators, have been depicted daily in the mass media.<\/p>\n
Those considered guilty are tried by the masses, killed and
\ntheir bodies burned without any mercy or sense of humanity. Even
\nan accused person who had been detained by the police was
\nforcefully taken and tried by the masses in front of the police
\noffice, and the whole event witnessed by the police.<\/p>\n
Their miserable cries, begging for mercy and their screams
\ncaused by unbearable pain, as well as the policemen's loud cries
\nfailed to stop the masses from torturing the victims. They didn't
\neven pay attention to the police warning shots.<\/p>\n
Our country is based upon law. The police as enforcers of the
\nlaw should force the people to abide by the law, and at the same
\ntime they should also protect people, including those who are
\nsuspected of committing crimes, from this sort of rough justice.<\/p>\n
What if the masses are targeting the wrong person?<\/p>\n
