East Rote Police Chief, Second Inspector A. Ikram Mahben, on\nWednesday informed that the vessel was found without crew or passengers,\nraising several questions regarding its origin and cause of its\nstranding in Indonesian waters.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe inspection revealed several documents that point to the vessel\u2019s\nidentity, including a purchase offer form and a sales agreement\ncontaining the vessel\u2019s name, the vessel type, hull number, and the\nidentities of the seller and buyer,\u201d Mahben explained.<\/p>\n
The vessel, named Balamara, was first discovered by local residents,\nstranded without any crew or passengers.<\/p>\n
This information was then reported to local authorities, where upon\narrival at the scene, they found the boat empty.<\/p>\n
For the purposes of the investigation, police then conducted an\ninitial inspection of the boat and the items still on board.<\/p>\n
According to Mahben, officers also secured several items found on\nboard, including a GPS unit, a television, an electric drill, and\nseveral items of clothing.<\/p>\n
Rote Ndao Police Chief, Adjunct Commissioner Mardiono, stated that\nthe vessel was secured to prevent it from drifting away and to preserve\npotential evidence that could help authorities trace the circumstances\nof its presence in the East Rote waters.<\/p>\n
Due to its Australian identity, the investigation will be further\ncoordinated with the NTT Regional Police and related agencies to trace\nthe vessel\u2019s status, its last owner, and any possible reports of missing\npersons or shipping incidents involving the vessel.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe are still reviewing the documents and items recovered from the\nvessel. We will coordinate with relevant authorities to verify the\nvessel\u2019s identity and establish how it ended up abandoned in the waters\noff East Rote,\u201d he remarked.<\/p>\n
