        "content": "<p>Police inspect LA triple murder case evidence<\/p>\n<p>JAKARTA (JP): National Police inspected material evidence from<br>\nthe Los Angeles triple murder case involving Harnoko Dewantono<br>\nyesterday.<\/p>\n<p>The material evidence, tightly sealed in two boxes and a bag,<br>\nconsisted of 113 pieces of material evidence. Included were two<br>\nguns, a .38 caliber revolver and plastic used for wrapping<br>\ncorpses.<\/p>\n<p>The evidence was opened in the presence of National Police<br>\nSpokesman Brig. Gen. I Ketut Ratta, chief of the Forensic<br>\nLaboratory Center Brig. Gen. Untung Haryanto, head of the Jakarta<br>\nPolice Crime Investigation Directorate Col. Nurfaizi, Attorney<br>\nOfficer for General Crime Ardenan Kasihan, the main suspect Oki,<br>\nhis father and his lawyer Ruhut Sitompul.<\/p>\n<p>The opening of the packages, which were received two weeks ago<br>\nfrom the Los Angeles Police Department, was conducted by police<br>\nofficers from the Forensic Laboratory Center.<\/p>\n<p>In line with existing regulations at least two witnesses must<br>\nbe present while the evidence is removed, including the suspect.<\/p>\n<p>Nurfaizi stated that the material evidence will be used by<br>\nlocal police to complete their dossier on Oki before sending it<br>\non to the prosecutors' office.<\/p>\n<p>Brig. Gen. Untung Haryanto told reporters the Forensic<br>\nLaboratory Center will help city police investigators to<br>\ncarefully examine material evidence. \"We have adequate staff and<br>\ninstruments to examine material evidence.\"<\/p>\n<p>Oki acknowledged that the plastic belonged to him but denied<br>\nownership of the weapons.<\/p>\n<p>Responding to Oki's denial, Nurfaizi said: \"Expert officers of<br>\nthe Forensic Laboratory Center will examine the material<br>\nevidence's validity, and the court will use it in the trial.\"<\/p>\n<p>Oki, who was on trial for passport forgery, is believed to<br>\nhave killed his friend Gina Sutan Aswar, his younger brother Tri<br>\n(Eri) Harto Darmawan and his Indian business partner Suresh<br>\nMirchandani.<\/p>\n<p>A police officer said that Suresh was tortured and shot to<br>\ndeath in August 1991 and Gina was battered to death on Nov. 2,<br>\n1992, in Kentfield Brentwood in Los Angeles. Eri was beaten to<br>\ndeath at an apartment on Palm Boulevard, also in Los Angeles,<br>\nseveral days after Gina's death.<\/p>\n<p>The bodies of the three victims had been kept in a storage<br>\nlocker since May 1993 before being found by the Los Angeles<br>\npolice in August last year.
