Dody Sumantyawan said recently he had<br>\nordered his force not to ticket party supporters who violated<br>\ntraffic regulations during street rallies.<\/p>\n<p>\"We will just monitor them and use security measures only if<br>\nnecessary. Rather than risk starting a clash with a huge crowd by<br>\nticketing some of them, we will tolerate them as long as they do<br>\nnot endanger other motorists,\" Dody was quoted by Antara as<br>\nsaying.<\/p>\n<p>Traffic violations during street rallies range from<br>\nmotorcyclists not wearing safety helmets to the dangerous<br>\npractice of passengers riding on the tops of cars or trucks.<\/p>\n<p>Despite their low-profile stance, Dody said the police were<br>\nout to do their best -- without having to bare their teeth.<\/p>",
