Police headquarters panicked by bomb hoax<\/p>\n

A large envelope of documents, suspected of containing an
\nexplosive, caused the police to panic on Sunday following a bomb
\nthreat by an unidentified telephone caller.<\/p>\n
The threat turned out to be a hoax, however, as revealed after
\nthe police bomb squad immediately combed the vicinity of police
\nheadquarters in South Jakarta.<\/p>\n
The incident began when an unidentified man phoned an on-duty
\nofficer at 12:50 p.m., saying that a bomb had been planted
\nsomewhere in the compound.<\/p>\n
The man claimed to be calling from Cikini, Central Jakarta.<\/p>\n
The officer immediately called the bomb squad, who arrived
\nsoon after to search the compound.<\/p>\n
To the squad's surprise, when they checked the incoming
\npackages and letters, their metal detector beeped over a package
\nintended for the police directorate of finance.<\/p>\n
The squad later found out that the large envelope only
\ncontained documents fastened with metal paper clips.<\/p>\n
The bomb threat was the first to come following the
\nembarrassing experience earlier last week, when a bomb ripped
\nthrough the lobby of Wisma Bhayangkari, which is located in the
\nsame compound with national police headquarters.<\/p>\n
The device detonated before the bomb squad's arrival, although
\nit had been found by building janitors nearly an hour before it
\nexploded. The bombing was a slap in the face for the police
\nforce, coming on the heels of their success in uncovering the
\nterrorist networks responsible for the October 12 Bali bombings.<\/p>\n
The Wisma Bhayangkari bomb attack was the first in the
\ncapital, as well as in the country, this year. The latest
\nexplosion last Saturday, which police claimed to just be a big
\nfirecracker, injured a farmer in Penggilingan, Cakung, East
\nJakarta. Last year, police reported at least four bomb attacks in
\nthe capital, which claimed a total of two lives.<\/p>",
