        "content": "<p>Investigators have so far taken statements from 39 witnesses, said\nHead of Public Relations for Metro Jaya Regional Police, Senior\nCommissioner Budi Hermanto, to reporters at Metro Jaya Regional Police\nHeadquarters on Friday (8\/5\/2026).<\/p>\n<p>The 39 witnesses consist of one reporting witness, two witnesses in\nthe police report, 11 victims, eight witnesses near the incident, two\nfrom the vehicle drivers and operations, eight from railway operations,\nthree from related agencies, and four from the online taxi company.<\/p>\n<p>Further examinations are focused on the technical aspects of railway\noperations, related agencies, and parties involved in the online taxi\nvehicle operations, he explained.<\/p>\n<p>Senior Commissioner Budi stated that investigators from the\nSubdirectorate of Traffic Law Enforcement at Metro Jaya Regional Police\nare examining three witnesses from PT KAI\u2019s Operational Area 1 Manggarai\nin Central Jakarta today. These are AP, the Head of Signal and\nTelecommunications Synthesis; CN, the South Supervisor Officer; and MA,\nthe On-Train Customer Service for the Electric Train.<\/p>\n<p>Statements have also been taken from witnesses at PT Hans SM Green\nand Smart Mobility Indonesia, namely KS as Driver Recruitment Manager,\nMI from the Driver Training section, BM as Repair and Maintenance\nControl Manager, SF as Bekasi Operations Department Manager, and driver\nRR.<\/p>\n<p>The process is still ongoing, and simultaneously, Metro Jaya Regional\nPolice investigators, the Forensic Laboratory of National Police\nHeadquarters, and the National Transportation Safety Committee are\nconducting in-depth investigations in line with their respective primary\nduties, he added.<\/p>\n<p>This accident case has progressed to the investigation stage after\ncriminal elements were found during the case review. The police are\nstill conducting a series of in-depth probes.<\/p>\n<p>As is known, the Argo Bromo Anggrek train collided with a commuter\ntrain at Bekasi Timur Station on Monday night (27\/4). The incident\nresulted in 16 deaths and 90 others injured.<\/p>\n<p>At the time of the accident, the Green SM taxi had stopped in the\nmiddle of the railway tracks not far from Bekasi Timur Station due to an\nelectrical short circuit issue, and was then hit by a commuter train\ntravelling from Cikarang towards Jakarta. The involved commuter train\nthen stopped in the middle of the tracks.<\/p>\n<p>On the other hand, a commuter train heading towards Cikarang had\nstopped at Bekasi Timur Station as a result of the incident between the\nJakarta-bound commuter train and the Green SM taxi. It was this stopped\ncommuter train at Bekasi Timur Station that was subsequently hit by the\nArgo Bromo Anggrek train travelling from Jakarta.<\/p>",
