        "content": "<p>Serang (ANTARA) - Banten Regional Police (Polda Banten) foiled the\nsmuggling of 67 kilograms of methamphetamine and seized one firearm\nduring several enforcement actions at Merak Port, Cilegon City. \u201cThis\noperation was conducted as part of securing public order and security\n(kamtibmas) during the 2026 Eid al-Fitr homecoming period,\u201d said Banten\nPolice Chief, Inspector General Pol. Hengki, in Serang on Wednesday. He\nexplained that the evidence was secured from multiple enforcement\nactions throughout March in the port area. \u201cThe evidence of 15 kg of\nmethamphetamine and one firearm was first secured from two pedestrian\npassengers at the Merak Executive Pier on 8 and 12 March,\u201d he said. The\nperpetrators are suspected of exploiting the crowded port conditions\nduring the homecoming rush to deceive officers. However, the attempt was\nfoiled thanks to X-ray scanning equipment deployed by the police to\ncheck passengers\u2019 luggage. Subsequently, on 18 March, officers seized 52\nkg of methamphetamine from a minibus that had just arrived from Sumatra.\nThe police have named three suspects who are strongly suspected to be\npart of an inter-island drug trafficking syndicate. \u201cThe firearm\npossession case is now being handled by the Directorate of Criminal\nInvestigation, while the drug case involving a total of 67 kg of\nmethamphetamine is being investigated further by the Directorate of\nNarcotics at Polda Banten,\u201d he added.
