Based on the results of a case review, following a series of\ninvestigative measures it was concluded that the reported incident\nconstitutes a criminal event.<\/p>\n
Kupang (ANTARA) \u2014 The General Criminal Investigation Directorate\n(Ditreskrimum) of the East Nusa Tenggara Regional Police has formally\nescalated its handling of the alleged intimidation of dr. Eliza Princila\nUtami Pakaenoni (dr. Icha) from the inquiry stage to a full\ninvestigation.<\/p>\n
Director of the General Criminal Investigation Directorate at the NTT\nRegional Police, Kombes Pol. Sigit Haryono, speaking in Kupang on\nThursday, said the decision was taken after the joint investigation team\nheld a case review on Thursday (23\/7) and concluded that indications of\na criminal act had been found.<\/p>\n
\u201cBased on the results of the case review, after a series of\ninvestigative measures were carried out, it was concluded that the\nreported incident constitutes a criminal event. Therefore, its handling\nhas been escalated to the investigation stage,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
He stressed that, from the gathering of evidence, the examination of\nwitnesses, and coordination with experts, investigators had obtained\nsufficient grounds to escalate the handling of the case to the\ninvestigation stage.<\/p>\n
During the inquiry, the joint investigation team formed by the NTT\nRegional Police Chief, Inspector General Dr.\u00a0Rudi Darmoko, examined 35\nwitnesses.<\/p>\n
The team also examined four reported individuals and took statements\nfrom five experts, comprising a criminal law expert, a linguist, a\npsychologist, an expert in victimology and criminology, and a\ngraphologist.<\/p>\n
According to Kombes Pol. Sigit Haryono, the witness examinations were\ncarried out thoroughly on parties with knowledge of the incident,\nranging from the late dr. Icha\u2019s family, health workers at Kefamenanu\nRegional Hospital and Leona Hospital, patients present at the location\nwhen the alleged intimidation occurred, dr. Tri Maharani, who was\ncontacted by dr. Icha, the Chair of the Indonesian Medical Association\n(IDI) of TTU Regency, to the Speaker of the TTU Regency Regional House\nof Representatives (DPRD).<\/p>\n
Meanwhile, the four individuals reported in the case consist of three\nmembers of the North Central Timor Regency DPRD and a civil servant\n(ASN) within the TTU Regency Government.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe NTT Regional Police is committed to handling this case\nprofessionally, objectively, transparently, and accountably. Every step\nis taken based on legal facts, evidence, and the provisions of the\napplicable laws and regulations,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
The alleged intimidation case against dr. Icha was first handled by\nthe NTT Regional Police after the family reported the incident on 3 July\n2026. In follow-up to that report, the NTT Regional Police Chief formed\na joint investigation team involving personnel from Ditreskrimum,\nDitreskrimsus, the Women and Children Protection Directorate, TTU Resort\nPolice, and Kupang Resort Police to ensure the case is handled\ncomprehensively and professionally.<\/p>\n
With the escalation of the case\u2019s status to the investigation stage,\nthe NTT Regional Police has assured that the legal process will continue\nin accordance with applicable mechanisms to thoroughly uncover the\nalleged criminal act in the case.<\/p>\n
Dr.\u00a0Icha, a 27-year-old junior doctor serving in North Central Timor\nRegency (TTU), East Nusa Tenggara, was found dead on 26 June 2025.<\/p>\n
Before her death, dr. Eliza Priscila Utami Pakaenoni, or dr.
